JVH is Hosts Canine Blood Bank Drives!
The benefits of having your healthy canine friend give blood are numerous. In addition to the satisfaction of knowing that your dog is helping to save the lives of other dogs, they receive, free of charge:
- A physical examination before each donation;
- Blood Typing;
- Blood Chemistry Profile and Complete Blood Count (CBC);
- Heartworm test;
- Ehrlichia, Hemobartonella, and Babesia testing (diseases spread by ticks);
- Brucella testing (once for neutered dogs and yearly testing for intact dogs); and
- For every unit of blood donated your dog will receive a unit of blood or plasma if ever needed due to injury or illness.
These items would otherwise cost approximately $250!!
Eligibility Requirements Apply!
Your dog must be:
- In good health;
- Over 9 months and under 7½ years of age;
- Over 35lbs in weight;
- Be able to donate 5-7 times per year;
- Be current on heartworm medication and up to date with JVH's preventive health and vaccination schedule
