Veterinary Surgery at Jefferson Veterinary Hospital
Jefferson Veterinary Hospital performs hundreds of surgeries on cats, kittens, dogs and puppies each year, ranging from spays and neuters, soft tissue surgery, exploratory surgeries to remove foreign bodies to more complicated surgeries, such as tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) on larger dogs that have ruptured or torn their cranial cruciate ligament (similar to an ACL in humans). Many pet owners are also opting to include stem cell therapy or platelet rich plasma injection therapy during their pets surgical procedure to help speed up the healing time.
Veterinarian Dr. Ahalt has decades of surgical experience that he draws upon when performing surgery on cats and dogs. From elective procedures, advanced surgeries and emergency surgery, Dr. Ahalt will work closely with you to make sure that you understand the procedure that you pet will undergo. He will walk you through the diagnostic plan before, during, and after surgery.
Your pets comfort is one of our top priorities during their surgery and will be assigned a veterinary technician, who will be with them throughout the entire surgical process, from induction to recovery. Your pets surgery will be conducted by one of our experienced veterinarians in one of our two state of the art surgical suites. Your pets veterinary technician will be with them when he or she wakes up to help keep them calm, comfort them and closely monitor them during their recovery period.
